The material comes first.
Origin
Patchwrk began with materials worth keeping: the wash of a pair of jeans, the pattern in a woven textile, the original stitchwork of a pocket. Each offered a starting point for something new.
Recovered textiles and sourced fabrics are selected for their color, weight and texture. Their placement gives each garment and bag its composition, with contrast carried through the cut and the seams.
The construction becomes the detail.
Craft
Designed and made by Knar'e, the work takes shape through cutting, reconstruction and careful finishing. Double stitching, reinforced joins and lining give the assembled materials a structure suited to wear.
Some pieces are made once; others return as made-to-order designs. The silhouette remains recognizable, while the fabrics and patch placement give each version its own character.
Familiar materials, new expression.
Culture
Patchwrk draws on African American quilting, Japanese boro and the individual expression of hip-hop. These influences inform an approach to clothing that values memory, repair and reinvention.
Traces of an earlier garment remain visible as its materials take on a new shape and context.

Materials reach the studio through independent suppliers, recovered textiles and community relationships, including the 757 Reuse Center. These connections help shape what is made.
Care begins with the selection of fabric and continues through construction, alteration and repair. The intention is to make pieces that retain their character through regular wear and remain part of a wardrobe over time.

The Studio
A familiar garment can find a new fit, a worn piece can return to use, and a commission can begin with an idea. The Patchwrk Studio brings the same attention to material and construction to private commissions, tailoring and repairs.
